Acute/ Chronic Illnesses

There are differences between an acute and chronic illness.  Typically, an acute disease is recently started with signs and or symptoms that are present.  In some instances, an acute illness can be treated with medications and may not last for a prolong period of time.  In some cases, an acute illness can be more serious and if left untreated could lead to worsening condition or even worse.  Chronic illnesses are typically a disease process that has not resolved and continues to require ongoing evaluation, monitoring and continued treatment.  These types of illness can take a longer time before they become serious, but for elderly patients, can be very dangerous, even possibly lead to death without routine follow up care that requires physicals, further evaluation and ongoing treatment.  Our medical providers closely follow, monitor and provide the best medical care possible for acute and chronic illnesses.
